Booking system - A booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated in agreed priority order before the owners’ annual meeting, where the bookings for the next year are confirmed. Each owner has a priority for that year, and moves up five places each year. Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’ (April to October inclusive), and one week in the remainder of the year. By this route, thirty-six weeks are firmly booked before the year begins. Allowing for time for winter maintenance, the remaining twelve weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original chart, so having last choice originally does have its compensations. These extra bookings are confirmed on the first day of the month before the month of the booking.
Priority for school holidays - Up to three shareholders may opt for "school holiday" preference shares (referred to as ‘special’ shares), for which they pay a premium of 25% on the running costs each year but get first choice of the school holiday weeks available.
Currently (2020) there is ONE share with this status on the boat. The share currently for sale does not have special status but could do so for 2021, upon request.
General comments about the boat
Hawksmoor has a semi-trad rear deck with room for the steerer plus two (and a dog) and contains lockers with gas bottles, windlasses, mooring pins etc. Moveable deck boards give access to the engine bay, weed hatch and batteries.
Complete back to metal repaint in smart new livery winter 2015/16
Steps down (over the 240v inverter) lead to an en-suite (pump-out loo and wash basin) and the master bedroom with double bed (extendable to 5’), storage beneath, cupboards above and a full height wardrobe. There is a flat-screen digital TV. Duvets and pillows for 6 are provided.
Beyond the privacy door is the Alde gas central heating boiler (concealed by the opened door) and the bathroom to the left with corner bath, shower and full width mirror, radiator, wash basin, pump-out loo, storage and extractor fan.
Next comes the galley which has a good area of worktop, numerous cupboards, gas oven, grill and hob, electric fridge, microwave and ceiling extractor fan. A glass-fronted see-through cabinet is also fixed to the ceiling and an opening side-hatch prevents overheated cooks on fine days.
Moving further towards the bow is the dinette; with removable, extending full size table (for 6 people) or alternative half size table (for 2). The dinette extends to a double bed and incorporates a wardrobe, storage and freezer unit.
The saloon has a double sofa-bed (newly installed for 2020) and a ‘modesty’ curtain. There is a flat-screen digital TV with DVD, Freeview Box, automotive style CD/AM/FM radio and 4 (adjustable) speakers throughout the boat. For additional heating there is a solid fuel stove.
The folding French-window style doors lead to the well deck which has a seating area (with optional table) and three lockers for hoses, coal, mops etc. and the brass water tank filler cap. There is a bow-thruster down there somewhere too!

Hawksmoor is owned and self managed by an established, friendly and successful syndicate who are collectively committed to maximising the enjoyment of the boat to the benefit of all owners. There is a mixture of owners from young to old and the group includes both original owners and relative newcomers. The group has a number of owners with practical expertise in a variety of skills relevant to the canals but also those who by choice or time constraint are active only in participating in syndicate decisions.
Owners are encouraged to consider extended cruises, with remote handovers.
IMPORTANT Please note that, as a condition of our insurance policy, owners are responsible for making sure they (and anyone they allow to use Hawksmoor)
1) have at least three weeks’ previous boating experience (e.g. hire boat holiday)
2) must report at time of purchase if they have suffered from diabetes, epilepsy, a heart condition or any other physical infirmity or disease within the past 5 years.

Well maintained 58ft semi-trad Narr
We reluctantly want to sell our 1/12 share in this lovely share boat, but only because we've bought our own boat.
Willoughby is a 2001 semi-trad, 58ft, 6 berth, semi-trad narrowboat. She has a dedicated syndicate intent on keeping her in good condition for many years into the future.
She's currently based in Cheshire, but is likely to move southwards in the next couple of years.
She has a tradional internal layout - from the stern:
* semi-trad deck
* 2nd toilet (pump-out)
* master bedroom, lengthwise double bed
* bathroom including 1st toilet (pump-out), bath with shower over
* galley with 4-burner hob, oven, grill, fridge, lots of storage
* dining area, seats 4, choice of large and small tables, converts to 2nd double bed
* cupboard & solid fuel stove
* lounge area, with a pair of single chairs wich convert to beds
* access to front deck
She was repainted in 2018, had a new engine a few years before that. She is planned to have preventative chine welding done next year, supplemented by 2-pack blacking for long-term durability.
Offers based on £1800 to buy the share, please. Typical monthly fees around £100 (will be be higher in 2020 due to the chine work & blacking) plus £200-£400 typical annual winter maintenance.
