Message:   OK, so things do happen - and some!!! But what I am saying here is that the fear of the chances of experiencing crime usually outweigh the danger of it happening. Last night I was in central London at midnight, it was heaving.

The tube was busy, but getting progressivly more empty. At Perivale two "troublemakers" got on. They were clearly "high", one was smoking on the platform before getting on. They sat near me in a relativly empty carriage after shouting "wake up" through the windows between the carriages. Turned out they were just two lads on a night out. I engaged them in conversation and by Northolt we had done all there was to do about football.....so from trouble makers to best mates in the space of one stop. "Folks are basically decent".

AND yes I accept if I was female that could have been different and YES a woman just going out on her own could be more of a target. But on my trip home there were loads of women around on their own......
