After a quick 5 day vacation in Meredith I have a new respect for the Winni salmon. Some days they would be totally shut off and on other days they were on fire and I could not keep 2 riggers in the water. When we first got up fishlanders in monkey puke were hot but then they died off. i tried every color I had and nothing worked. I swithched over to top guns and even went to AJ"s to buy the new hot colors but only had limited success on them. Then I tried the old stand by flasher and smelt fly and watch out. the first hour of day light and last hour after sunset was awesome. My 4 year old had a blast. The salmon put on spectacular fights. Hot depth was 25' down and 25' back at a 2.00 ball speed. I had a down temp of 62 degrees at 25'. Then 55 degress at 30'. That was merridith bay over the deep water. Then on the other side of bear island water was 55 degrees down 25'. Biggest salmon was just shy of 5lbs with most of them running 3lbs. we did get a few small rainbows and when my son got bored we would send a rigger down to 60' to hook a few lakers. They seem to always cooperate:) 3 weeks to lake O!!!!
Where on Lake O are you going in 3 weeks. I will be there for the 2 Pro/ Ams and the Little Salmon River Challenge. Are you planning on going to the LSRC?
Brad,
I will be up for the lsrc!! My first tournament. then I'm up there with the family for the next 10 days.:) We rented a house in Fairhaven. I will have the boat moored in Oswego harbor at the international marina for the first half but depending where the salmon are I might move it down to the house, It comes with a dock. I'm very lucky I have a good friend who is a charter boat capt. out of Oswego so i will have a little help locating the salmon!!:):)Where are you guys staying for the lsrc? I will be up the Friday morning before. I will get a hold of you before hand and maybe we can finally meet.
I will be staying at the Deer creek motel, Pulaski??? It's about 4 miles north of Woodys going towards Sandy Pond. The rooms have 3 beds. There will be 3 of us coming from Mass on friday. One being my son. We should arrive mid day and hope to go out with the Captain and do some pre-fishing. I will share with you the info I know as to whats hot and where. We will be out of Salmon Country on a 28 foot Baha. The one you saw the series of repair pictures all last winter on GLA.
We are planning to fish the 2 upcoming Pro/Ams and are having some teammate issues. We may be looking for another member and an observer for both tournaments. It's always something!!!!
I have been by deer creek, looks like a nice place. I too will share my info with you. I did talk to my buddy today and he says the salmon fishing sucks right now. the water colum hasn't set up and theres no bait. I hope it gets better soon!!!!!
Thats 4 weekends away. There is plenty of time. Dont sweat it. There will be plenty of salmon soon. I'm just worried for the 12th and 13th out of Oswego. I bet we have to run west a while to get the salmon.
If you want to shoot the sheet, I'm at 508-612-2959 cell. I have some tricks I'm dying to try out. Cant wait to get out there. The brown trout fishing is dynamite in the right places. My buddy boxed an 11 pounder today.
Steelfire and Nemesis: Myself and two friends will be fishing out of Catfish Creek in New Haven from the 18th. to 21th. Be glad to share info. Should be within VHF range of each other, or cell phone. Best of Luck. Cal P.
Yankee,
I'll be arriving the 25th till August 4th. Brad might be there that time.

We used to fish out of Catfish, used to rent from Captain Bill, rented an old mobile home, had everything we needed plus a dock to use. Good luck!
