Okay, so today I went to a memorial for a friend, Paul, that passed away last weekend. He was the first person to take me (and teach me) shore fishing for stripers. His favorite spot for laid-back striper fishing was Hilton Park... so it was an easy decision to have the memorial there. Many family and friends attended. It was a great ceremony, with uniformed officers performing a flag ceremony and playing TAPS.
Something happened after the memorial that really made me think Paul is watching...
Let me preface this by saying I am not a very religious person. I typically believe coincidence is just that, but today I wondered...
After leaving Hilton Park, I took a drive past a few spots that Paul and I had fished together. I had no intention of fishing, simply remembering past days. Somewhere along the line, I decided to head to Kittery Trading Post to see if they happened to have a Big Jon dual rod holder for a downrigger. Its something I've been needing, just hadn't got around to ordering one. So, I get to KTP and look through the whole downrigger section without seeing one single piece of Big Jon equipment, nevermind the exact rod holders I'm looking for. I asked one of the clerks and he said as far as he knew they didn't carry that product. Oh well. Guess I'll have to order it. So, I head for the door... but instead of my usual route going up the old stairway, I headed toward the back of the freshwater department to use the newer stairs leading to the lobby. Just as I'm about to the new stairs, I see a sort of clearance rack on my left side. I kind of glanced at it on my way by and stopped dead in my tracks. There on the floor sat exactly the item I had been looking for. All alone. The only Big Jon item in the fishing department, one they supposedly didn't stock and it happened to be the exact item I was looking for... and on clearance for 25% of its normal price!! Coincidence??? I tell you what, it gave me a shiver up the spine! Made me think twice about coincidences.
Kind of a neat story there Slipknot, Reminds me of many that have happened to me with the best one being when i shot my very first buck 11pts 206lbs, when I shot at this deer It felt just as though my dear old grandpa was right there with me, it had been snowing all morning and as soon as I shot my deer the clouds broke and the sun shined down on us, It is one of my best memories ever and I know dear old grandpa had the biggest smile on the great lake and woods of the skies. Sorry to hear about your friend!!!!!!! Take Care God Bless and Tight Lines LOL Dave From up North
