My Boat Idles at about 2-2.3 mph at 700 rpm. I would like to slow it down a bit so that 2 mph is at about 1000 rpm so that my battery gets a better charge. I know the correct solution is to use a trolling bag, but since I have already spent by "allowance" this year on downriggers and rods. I did a quick test and 2, 5 gal feed buckets work just about right.
Now the question. If I hang the bucket off the center cleat should there be enough rope so that it drags next to the boat or behind? When running next to the boat it seems to rest gently on the side of the boat just below water line. Will it eventually rub the paint off? If running behind will it end up in the motor? |
