big john is fishin' squam this week ( all week ) and not w/in reach of his computer. he sends his regards. he's been fishing every day, with a variey of scoundrels, and reports that it has been a bit slow. I think it doesn't help when you are being hit by lightning.....but that's just me. LOL.
Today he fished with Harry and Floydo (me).It started slow. No hits from 5 AM till after 8.
Then hits were off and on for the next several hours
with one double interupting me just when i had set out the cheese and crackers in the livingroom.
I can't complain though, because harry went right
(his big mistake ) and i went left............right into a screaming 3lb. 11 oz. Salmon.
Best fight i ever had on the lakes. It wasn't just the jumps. the fish just kept ripping off line, coming near and then ripping off line again. and again. Big John must have set the drags just right, because this one was staying on for the whole ride.
It came along side for awhile....keeping pace with the barge. i think it was doing that eye thing like ORCA the killer whale . Looking at us with a sneer. then it went straight down.
Bottom line, we boated it a couple minutes later. Good team effort complete with high fives.
We each boated a few today...and Harry took home dinner. We weren't sure that dinner for Harry would be part of the outcome today, after big john
"accidentally" released Harry's first fish back into the deep. oops.
fish were 30 to 38 feet down and caught off the riggers. fishlanders (RIP) and guide specials. various combinatons with orange and/or green.
Good fun and comaraderie on the barge.
