um..hi..thanks for the info
Hello, I did a search for 'real cowboy' in google and found the page to Russell's info. I read a couple of american novels recently that were centred around ranch's (OK, I'll admit they were romance novels *cringe*  )and wanted to see if real cowboys were like those I read about.Being English, I really only have a 'hollywood' image of cowboys. It was interesting to read about the history and evolution of cowboys. Thank you. I was disapointed to read that cowboy boot are no longer worn, and baseball caps are common atire. I can't help but hope there are some cowboys out there still with an old fasioned dress sence  Now I just have to find out if they talk like they are depicted in my books  . Miss EJ, I am glad you enjoyed reading about the Cowboy. When I wrote this page I did not want to imply that the Cowboy doesn't wear Cowboy Hats any longer, it is just that the norm, is now to wear Baseball Caps more often. I for one and most everyone on The Thomas Ranch still wears Cowboy Hats and most of those we assosiate with. So I hope that I haven't diminised the thoughts that you have on the Cowboy.
