Walking on Water: Courage to face the storm
In Matthew 14:22-33 we read the story of how Jesus summoned Peter to get out of the boat and walk towards him on the water. To me this story portrays what a Living Faith is all about. Living Faith is about stepping into the storm, into the water, leaving the security of the boat, and walking towards where Jesus is and where he is calling us to be. Yet, between us and the security of Jesus is the stormy sea of doubt, fear, even physical harm. The real world swirls around us so fast that we could easilly get swept away by the tide. Yet, Jesus calls us into this dangerous sea of the unknown in order to experience a living faith and to accomplish His will. Has there ever been a time that you've felt Jesus call you out into the storm? What stormy seas did you/are you facing? How did you/are you face those waves?
