"Why Have You Forsaken Me?" Lenten Devotional Response
I can understand Jesus' cry from the cross, "Why have you forsaken me," because that was how I felt in November 1998 the night that my wife at the time told me that she was leaving me and our marriage for another man, a mutual friend of ours. That night, and the days, weeks and even months after, I felt so totally alone. I questioned why God could let such a thing happen. It was pure misery. I will never forget the feeling for as long as I live. Yet, I did not remain in this state of agony forever. Why? I remembered my Savior and my God. That God was there for me if only I'd just fall back into his arms and let Him be my strength. And so I gave God my broken heart and put my life totally in his hands. Guess what? With the grace of God I've been given heaing, and God has blessed me in some incredible ways, especially by leading me to my wife, and life partner, Deanna. Thank you Jesus. Thank you for taking my pain and giving me life in return. Amen. Now, it's your turn to share. Dare to open up so others who read this forum will find a testimony of living faith dwelling here!
