Getting married in Koh Phangan.......

Has anyone been married or know of friends who have been married in Koh Phangan. My boyf has been there before and loves it and wants us to get married there, but the travel company brochures over in the UK show weddings in either Bangkok or Koh Samui. If anyone knows of any places to get married or has any link to photos, let me know. Cheers. Missy x

I'm looking for info about the same thing.
My boyfriend and I are hoping to get married there next year.
I'll keep you posted if I find anything :)

Re: Getting married in Koh Phangan.......

Panviman resort on Thong Nai Pan is an absolute luxury resort with amazeing views and I'm sure they can provide you with what you want for a wedding.
But what are you thinking about? Is it just you and your bo? Are you planning on bringing a bunch of friends and family with you?
You say your boyfriend has stayed on the island, where did he stay? Chances are that is where he wants to head to.

a little more information and I can try and help you out a little more.

Re: Getting married in Koh Phangan.......

Hi, I just saw this site for a place called "The Sanctuary" on Koh Pha Ngan. They do have Buddhist, Christian and Catholic wedding ceremonies there. Here's their site. Click on the "Weddings" link, good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!

Re: Getting married in Koh Phangan.......

I wouldn't plan a wedding at The Sanctuary unless you have been there and are down with the vibe. There aren't any real facilities for a wedding so you would be shareing you ceremony with the whole beach.

If your boyfriend happened to stay on Had Tien or the surrounding beaches and thinks it's the best idea in the world, then maybe it's the place for you. I have no idea what they charge and the idea that they can provide you with a Monks and the lot is great, but I still wouldn't get married there and if The Sanctuary can hook you up with ministers and the like then you should be able to find other places as well. Again, find out from your boyfriend what makes him think this is the place to have your wedding and start checking around the places he stayed.

Re: Getting married in Koh Phangan.......

hi there,

im michelles boyfriend, paul.

ive only stayed on koh phangan once to be honest, in weng thai bungalow, thongsala. i told michelle that i would love to marry her one day in thailand, and because i loved phangan so much more than samui (i didnt enjoy my time in chaweng) or bangkok that seemed like the place to do it.

we are heading down there hopefully in a few days when michelle gets to bangkok. we will just have one night here probably and then get the overnight train or fast boat to koh tao. if anyone has any advice about getting from bangkok to phangan i would really appreciate it. i dont really want to (cant afford to) pay what i did last time for the flight.

thanks a lot.

paul.

Re: Getting married in Koh Phangan.......

okay Paul here is an agent in BKK that you can book a joint train ticket. It's an easy no brainer.
I have used them twice now and just faxed them my credit card information from the states and had their courier bring me my ticket for an extra 100 bht.

The reason I suggest you do this is that in order for your girlfriend to get the type of seat she will want for the train you should book ahead. Sounds like you are down south and she is coming down alone.

If that's the case go to a travel agent where you are, find the times for the trains that your girl can catch down and then see if the agent can arrange to get the ticket to her in BKK. If not, get the information and call Olavi 66-02-281-1556 Wan is the women who I deal with and she is great.

Good luck
paul

Re: Getting married in Koh Phangan.......

thanks for the advice mate. to be honest, just as i was posting my last message on here the guy who actually runs the bungalows where i want to take michelle walked past and recognised me from last time! it turns out he also has a travel place called www.mtftravel.com. were getting the bus down to surat and a boat from there to phangan for 1100B each. there is a 450B alternative, but slower and without aircon.

we are thinking of going to kanchanaburi for a night or two before heading down to thongsala.

see you there, ill get the changs in!

paul.
