Nuturist beaches
Hello to all... I've not been to KP yet and have read that it is considered to have nude beach areas. Is there any truth to this?? If so, could someone give me some insight?? I know full well the views of public nudity with the Thai, so I'm a little curious here... thanks. tj |

There are no nude beaches on KP. Nude and topless sunbathing is frowned apon in Thailand, as you stated. However, there are plenty of tourist that choose to ignore this. I've never seen anyone completely nude, but there are plenty of girls sunbathing bare breasted. |

Thanks for the info "Whatever"... btw... can you additionally tell me a little more about the "full moon party" thing. Sorry to sound so ignorant... but the fact is... I AM!! I work up in BKK and have not had the time nor pleasure of participating in a "full moon". I have heard, however that these parties can really rage, and frankly can at times resemble that of a Hedonism party in the Caribian!!! Do tell.... thx in advance... tj |

The party has been known to get up to 30,000.00 people, I've been told and I have been there when the whole stretch of beach of Had Rin is a solid wall of people. It is all electronica mostly techno from what I've heard, but there is one bar off the beach that plays Drum and Bass and perhaps a few places spinning hip hop. I'm not really all that interested in the party myself, but I've spent a lot of years at some pretty amazeing parties and Full Moon doesn't do it for me. I think if your in your 20's or early 30's like electronica, interested in partying your ass off, interested in hooking up or into big crowds of people getting plastered you will love it. My advice is stay on Phangan if you plan to go, not Samui. Stay near enough to Had Rin that you can walk to the party or get a ride on a long tail to the party from a driver that you know or at least getting a ride from someone that works at the bungalow you stay at. You'll have a great time on the island no matter when you go and there is always a party to go too. Full Moon is the big one and I would say check it out. |

The Party...
Sounds like Koh Phangan is for me. I'm 41 so not so much into the huge techno fests. Some cooler low key parties sound like a better scene. Cheers and thanks for the intel. tj |

5 years ago we were nude on leela beach,with quite a few others,i understand a new complex of huts has been built there now so i dont know if nudism continues there. mike |

was on leela beach in feb. no nudes there , but the old leela beach huts still exists on the far side od the beach. its pretty quiet there , so no problem to to it in the nude there  !hav fun bob |

I saw a beautiful european girl sunbathed topless in front of Blue Lagoon Hotel in October 2003. I almost asked her if I could take a picture of her to prove it. I regret that I didn't and she is still always on my mind... |

Leela beach sounds pretty good!! Not sure I'm gonna "do it in the nude" as Bob suggests.... but letting it all hang out sounds like a possibility. Most naturists that I know are very respectful including myself, so if asked by any Thai to put my shorts back on... I'd cover up for sure. Who knows, maybe we all can start a trend at this beach... and not for just the ladies that wanna take their tops off. Would be nice if us guys had a place to fly free too!! These wonderful Thai beaches just seem perfect for nude fun, unlike many of the beaches back in California where I am from, which were often times cold and too windy on the central coast (where I usually went nude). The cold has adverse effects on the male anatomy if ya get my drift.

I had a feeling you were from N. Cali. I live in Marin. Here's the thing TJ a Thai person is not going to ask you to put your cloths back on. Read up on the Thai Culture and look at anything printed about comming here. This is an imbarasing thing for a Thai person to see you nude and the idea of them walking around nude is unthinkable, except for maybe the Katoeys. You won't even see a Thai girl in a bathing suit for the most part here. Every now and again you might and they are more then likely from another part of the country or a working girl. The Thai are VERY modest. And what's with the concern if your parts srink up? I always found the nude sunbathing thing to be laughable. We use to sunbath topless, in private, to get rid of tan lines in Florida. You sound like your reason is to parade you bits around. Give us yanks a good name by keeping your shorts on. Sun bathing nude is a really good way to have the Thai people shy away from you and give you the cold shoulder. |

Well... I guess to be honest.. part of the fun of sunbathing in the nude is the voyeuristic/ exhibitionist aspect of it all. I think anyone who does it would tell ya that!! So... cats outta the bag there. Laughable?? Well, I guess that depends upon whom one is sunbathing with!! 55555 Look at it this way... don't ya think that many of the women sunbathing with their tops off kinda get a thrill out if exposing themselves in addition to thwarting those dreaded tan lines. I've been living here for a couple years now (and work under Thai management) so I'm pretty up to date on the Thai culture thing. Props to you for the heads up, though. But trust me... If I'm at a secluded section of beach, and others are partaking in nude activities, the shorts are comin down and I'm runnin with the wind!! I even have a Thai friend that I see from time to time, and she seems surprisingly open and intrigued by the prospect. Go figure. In fact we were at Koh Samet of all places and she was marveling at group of farang women that were going natural there!! She went as far as to say that she would have joined in if she were more "endowed" not that these particular women were. I encouraged her regardless of her insecurities. In the end her shyness got the best of her, but she was certainly not offended. BTW... this girl is not a working girl. Cheers, tj |

I agree with you on the topless thing. I grew up in Florida and your looks and attracting attention to yourself by what you are wearing or not wearing, is a huge competition there. I'm not saying that all the Thai people will judge you. I have many Thai friends and one of my girl friends often will say, "I wish I could dress like a farang." But she would never do it because she would be judged heavily by the Thai people. If you live there, then popping down to KP and doing whatever, isn't going to really matter to you because you have plenty of Thai friends, I'm sure where you live. I think the attitude of most people is, 'they're doing it, why shouldn't I.' Your comming down for a holiday and you'll have to see how you feel about your shorts. Your sure to have a great time regardless. |

Greetings to all, Going nude on KP is possible,Leela beach still has areas where one can if you want go nude. From the beach facing the sea walk right to the far end and you will see an area where you can buff it. Or turn left and on the beach there are trees growing in the sand right on the waters edge where you can relax and also see the if people are coming your way. Failing that,walk the length of sunset beach and you will surely see alot of areas where people go nude,alot of the bungalow areas are few and far between so there are alot of little nooks and crannies to achieve the all over,(but as someone stated before,beware the lady boys,they are not shy to approach you if you are naked). Another good area is further up the island past Wok Tum and Thong Sala,follow the coast road and there are some excellent places there.sorry i cannot remember the name,but it's before Haad Yow. Seek and you shall find. |
