Take meds or not to take them?
Hi I am new this site and lately I have been suffering from Panic disorder and Axneity.(can't spell.) My Dad said he belives it is a spirtual battel and I should try to not take any meds at first but try to get through this with Jesus. I am just wondering what you think. My doctor of course doesn't agree, she thinks I should take it, however I don't want to become relianite on any medicine. Thank you |

Hi Christina! I have the same battle going on and was recently put on meds. I had the same problem years ago and thanks be to God I beat it for a few years and was free! I was recently attacked badly again and am taking meds. I think we do need to trust and rely on Jesus for healing us and if you can do that on faith alone then that is the best way to go.......if however you feel you may need some meds to help you along until your faith is strong enough I don't see the problem other than the meds only mask the symptoms they do not cure them----Only God can truly heal us!! I would strongly recommend avoiding the meds if it is possible....I am presently weaning myself off and wish I never started them. They have alot of great herbal products that help and I believe are safer to take. Well that is only my opinion but I hope it may have been of some help. Hi Christina, I have battled the same question you have. Remember what I was told...yes Jesus can heal, He DOES heal but if you are really suffering the dr.'s can help. Consider if you found out you were a diabetic, that too is a spiritual warfare..all disease is. However, would you be more inclined to say 'no' to treatment for diabetes and wait for the Lord to heal? Perhaps not...God can heal but we also must take care of ourselves until He shows us and gives us the faith we need to believe in healing. There is nothing wrong with seeking medical help while you are seeking the Lord's healing..He looks at your heart. I would far rather have been completely healed from my panic and anxiety but that hasn't been the case(so far!)except to accept medical help..perhaps that's the avenue the Lord wants you to take..it's your choice but please PLEASE don't berate yourself if you do indeed need to take it...God has given man a measure of wisdom too..that's why there is insulin for diabetes, antibotics for infections etc. God is ALWAYS on the throne..tell Him your fears, and tell Him your love and He will direct your life! |

Me again, I agree that medicine is available to us if need be but psychiatric medicine is very, very different and it is nasty!! If you can avoid this stuff at all cost please do!! I have finally gotten off all meds.......I was taking Celexa and Klonopin. I weeaned off of them both......Klonopin was no problem but after stopping Celexa very, very slowly I became extremely dizzy when I finally stopped. The dizzines and nausea were bad for about 4 days and then seemed to ease up a little more each day. Now I feel fantastic praise God!! I feel like myself again but better and feel like a whole new person!! I never realized how much those meds affected me! I will never, ever take them again and I urge anyone considering these nasty pills to please try herbal products instead! They are just as effective without the nasty side effects or withdrawls!!
