Im writing a manga and or anime.

I'm not sure how Im supposed to do this but Im looking to make manga and anime. My math teacher, Anne Sugihara, referred me to you in hopes you can help me or give some some guidance.

I have two stories Im working on right now. Is there anyway you can help me or what you want to know about them?

My email is wildemps@yahoo.com

Thank you for your time and I hope I will be able to get this made and done (so I can become a game designer)!

Re: Im writing a manga and or anime.

Im wondering what is the procedure to making an anime/manga. Ive came up with two stories however without a knowledge of what it needs or doesnt need is the question as well as their procedures to being made and who to talk to for it.

And would you know of anyone who could publish them and will it cost anything?

Re: Im writing a manga and or anime.

You could start by writing letters of inquirey forsubmissions to the major Managa publishers in North America to find out what it takes individually from them, and what they require for original "Comic" manga submissions.
You start by creating and writing an original story of course.
There really is no set guidlines on how to create stories, just use your imagination and get to work.

Re: Im writing a manga and or anime.

Thanks, im seeing tokyopop has some interesting stuff to go forth.

I would like to send you what the story is about so I can get a feedback of what someone from your line of work can say. Would that be fine by you?

Thanks

Re: Im writing a manga and or anime.

So whats the procedure for making manga? they just take the idea and put it on paper then ship it to the stores?

Re: Im writing a manga and or anime.

Your question is a bit ambigeous, what do you mean by make manga?
When you get down to it, the procedures of creating and producing a Japanese "Comic" are quite the same as creating and producing comics here in America.
Create it, write it, draw it, and shop it around to publishers.

Re: Im writing a manga and or anime.

There was a major revamp to Parting Prints.

When I first had the idea down it was as it is in the email. However I felt it couldve been "fuller". So I had the thought of making the story in the future rather than in the past.

What Im saying is, Kousoka (the main character) is now a middle aged man. He is, like before, having problems he doesnt know how to deal with and they keep multiplying.

But what about the old material? Its still there in full flesh. The actual story of "Parting Prints" is in a notebook Kousoka found in his house. He has no idea who it is hes reading about (although its him and the other 3 main characters).

Now its a dual storyline, one in the future as Kousoka handles the real life problems while in the book, Kousoka and the others are trying to find a way back home.

I have about half of the 26 episodes done. Though Ive just been flip flooping around with them since each isnt right after the other. The complete ending and intro are completed however.

Ill send you an email detailing the changes and the first season when I have them ready.

Anne likes the story because of its differentness among other anime. Do you find it the same way?

Re: Im writing a manga and or anime.

Making an Anime solo is possible but crazi and very time consuming.

Making a manga is also time consuming but a lot more plausible for something to accomplish. Tokyo Pop is one choice for a publisher, but you could also put it up online. Now A days there are a lot of very famous web comic artist.

When I draw manga there's different ways I'll go about it. If its characters I'm already familiar with a lot of time I just draw it out, but this only works well for a short strip or something along those lines.

For a actual book I'd prolly want to write it all out first. This is what you have already started to do it seems. If you havent already making character sheets is a good idea. Sit down and draw your characters with many different expression and angels as you can think of. I'm now sure how you have your script witting but drawing it as play form can help alot.

Make sure that your lines aren't to long. This I think is one of the hardest things for me to do. I know what I want a character to say but its to much to fit in all one bubble. This means I'll either have span what I'm saying over multiple panels, or shorting it.

Its also now to have a professional look. I'm not sure if any of the comic stores where you live sell it, but I'm sure you can order it online. Manga paper. It's some pretty nice stuff, and the blue box helps you to keep within the boundaries.

Also keep in mind most publishers don't want you to send them the whole story. They'll only want a portion of what your tryin to sell to them. So make sure your plan out your teaser carefully. The part and the story you choose to show them is crucial.

If you get to see the publisher in person. Don't be modest. I know this sounds like your full of your self. But the publisher doesn't want to here well I could of done better. He wants your best work, so thats what you should give him... or at least make him think he's getting.

Hope this helps and isn't to confusing.
