Harry Potter and Awsome Weekend date so far!

Harry Potter and our Awesome Weekend date so far Whoohaaaaaaaaaa!
Man I was about to think that I forgot I even have one of these LJ things when somebody was yet again nagging me for not having a "My Space" account. Now how could I have one of those if I can't even keep up with a simple LJ account?
Oh yeah, I have a real life to live that keeps me too busy from posting alot heheheheh!
What a lovely weekend it has been so far home finally for change with Nikki and Harry Potter.
I was on the road previously to Metrocon, and the just got back from having a hell of a good time with "Delta Force" at Conneticon.
Somday I promise con reposrt since the fun had at Anime St. :opise will be written about but for now...phew!
Good lord... had to much fun Caitlin Glass, John, and poking fun at/with Vic McNonon?
Ahh yeah, Mignonia hehehehehe!
(You had to be there, Match Game was a hoot!!)
Anyway, I am glad Nikki twisted my arm to finally start reading the Potter books awhile ago.
I really enjoyed four and just completed 5 before heading to the theatre friady afternnon with Nikki, Battlangel Steve, and Chuck to see it after getting info from Walmart when they wwould beging to pass out bracelts to stand in line for book 7.
I throughly enjoyed movie 5 and was amazed how much it looked liked how I imagined how it would look like while reading the book.
I was pleasantly surprised that the character Tonks was a hot babe than the Kelly Ozbourne I was thinking of, and I really liked the actresses that played Umbridge and my new favorite character Luna Lovegood.
We then meet up with niece Geena and old friends Kevin and Heath in the lobby quite by coinccidence as we were still so busy chatting about the movie. Then, afer a quick dinner at El Charro's we dashed off to Walmart and were third in line for an rubber arm bracelette bearing the title of the book and color coded red for firts in order in line and for the house of "Gryfindor" as well.
I was rather hoping to get "Slytherin" green myself hehehehe.
We had time to go see Nikki's music teacher's band in a nice outdoor concert at Griffin's Bookstore in downtown Fredericksburg, and then decided to ctach some the HP mania at Borders Books were we saw the most fun Costumes I have seen in ages. I commented to Nikki while there that I felt I was not missing out on Otakon as I was feeling right at home surrounded by so many folks young and old in costumes having fun while there. We saw an awesome Moody, Bellatrix, some girls dressed as Wild Sister's , some fun Trewlaneys, (Nikki swears she has made me into a Potter dork as I was pointing all thse folks out to her heheheh) bumped into a really cute Chang, chatted with several Lovegoods, and then how can we forget the lttle baby in the carriage complete with make-up scar and a letter addressed to Mr and Mrs Dursley heheheheh!
Oh yeah, was nice to catch up with good Ol' Jeanne as well from the old days of my comic career.
:)
What fun ,what fun, but we we left soon to race back to be in lone at Walmart for Nikki's books. As luck and fun wouyld have it, we we sixth in line nad had a blast talking with everyone near to us.At one point I concated a plan to collect more of those rubber bands of the three other houses with the daughter next in line with me but alas, to our chagrin we found out you had to return the bands upon purchase of the book!
Hell Bellz to that, I pocketed mine so that Nikki could have a souvenir of that fun night togther, and lucky I have the gift of gab as the person in front of us is a Wally World employee that I made a deal with to get more bands once they are not needed.
She afterl is an Anime fan hahahahahahahahaha!
What a perfect date it was all around with with my Nikki and the mania of Harrp Potter.
I can't wait to read the sixth book now and then who knows... I just found my fan gift Slythering Scarf so heheheheheheheheh!
We both can't wait to go to Dragoncon and see the actors that played Fred, George, and Neville respectively.
Anyway, I am going to go enoye the rest of Sunday with Nikki after her marathon reading of Deathly Hallows, and then we are of to give a copy to her Mom as we were aloowed a total of three books.
WE feel sorry for sure as WM had stocked only about 650 copies of the book, and over two hundred red Gryfindor bands were passed out!
That means any one halfway through green slytherin was already SOS but no symapathy there as red was still being passed out after we qued up at 11 pm.
Oh yeah, one small negative pox goes to the young fat, lazy couple who came up tenth in line on the motorized carts... we saw you walk, f**** arround in the aslies and then deney other folks like Nikki ( Who stood the whole time without complaint untill I got her a camp stool after taking my complaint along with many other folks why the f*CKERS were able to use the motor carts to sit on and play bumper cars with when the rules said no chairs allowed in the que! They finally relented to the us

Re: Harry Potter and Awsome Weekend date so far!

Right on Thea Sister!
I'm sure quite a few Jinxes were utterd towards them that night.
Wow, you must have not put the book down at all then untill finished!
It will take a great deal longer time for me as I can only read in small spurts or free time.
I think Nikki combined with taking into account that she finally went to sleep after reading for four hours after getting back home relatively soon.It must have been overall six hours for her as well, and already she wants to re-read it again!

Now the hitch is she loaned her copy to her Step father In'law who in kind loaned us his Vol. 6 since we can't find her's here at home, and as her mom has the other copy 7, and he too is a HP fan.He would have bugged Mom anyway by snatching uo the book whenever she put her's down so it was better that way to stop him and me from try9ing to jumpo ahead without reading book six heheheheheh

Man, I can't believe I am finally fanning out about HP lol!!!

Now I am a bigger geek when it come to Simpsons and having trekked all the way up to Bladensburg MD today for a Squishy at the only nearby Kwik E-Mart tricked out 7-11 hehehehehehe!
Was fun, was fun.
:)

One of my 17 year old co-workers read it in 5 1/2 hours. Dang teenagers. Somewhere there's a fourteen year old who read it in four hours and can do physics in his/her head. Maybe.

Woot! I'm trying to get my friends together for a Simpsons field trip when the movie comes out!

D'oh!

I won't give you any spoilers. I hate when people spoil things for others >_<;; I finished reading it though, and now i'm sad it's over. You're reading the books in a funny order~ =P

Ahh!! I would love to see that scarf!!! Just supervise me when i'm with it, cause i might run away.

Re: Harry Potter and Awsome Weekend date so far!

There used to be knitting patterns of Harry Potter scarves. Check your local craft stores.

Maybe invisibility cloaks are really therm-optic camouflage, like the Major in Ghost in the Shell?

:D

Thea

PS: Was anyone else shouting "I KNEW it!" at the end of book 7?

Re: Harry Potter and Awsome Weekend date so far!

Both Nikki and I were quite surprised and happy with the ending in general although she art fiosrt felt that the whole short 20 years into the future was a bit much.
It was nice to see the charaters grow and then lead lives post Hogwarts after all.

Rowling really out did herelf with 7
Can't see how any fans who felt either fate would happen could not be satisfied with the End as is.
Would be awesome to have a cloak like that heheheh!
I'm sure the Canadian Princess, The Lamume Fairy, and myself would be up to whole lotta fun No Good with one of those.
