SPOOKY HOUSE, RIP OFF !

I decided to travel 2 hours to spooky house because their web site seemed scary. I paid the $25.00 VIP tickets and arrived 2 hours before they opened. I spoke with a ticket sales lady who further convinced me this was the one. It should have been billed as a fun zone, not a haunted house, maze, or hotel. The staff were mostly minors, there was not a single point where you were scared and the mood was far from a haunted house. For $5.00 it would have been okay, at $25.00 I need to have my head exzamined! PLEASE, take my advise and save your money. The haunted trail in San Diego is by far the best I have attended in 5 years.

Sorry you had a bad time. Spooky House is like any other attraction: sometimes they have an off night, and I have heard of people sometimes being disappointed. But this is the first time I've heard as negative a reaction as yours. If I were to hazard an opinion, it would be that Spooky House should put more effort into "quality control" -- i.e., making sure that every night is good, so that no one comes away feeling like you.

Re: SPOOKY HOUSE, RIP OFF !

The staff and crew there were doing a fine job, as best to be expected from minors. The props were state of the art, top of the line and I suspect that is where the costs come in. The problem is that Spooky House just doesn't get it! They lost sight of the mood, the physical chemistry that causes humans to be scared in the first place. What they need is a director, not a manager. A good director knows what causes people to feel scared, captures that and is able to transfer that into an experience. I have been seeking the "Perfect Haunt" if you will, for many years. I enjoy this time of year for just that reason. It's a crying shame that Spooky House is so close to creating that experience except they lack the talent and experience to round third and bring it all home. Spooky House, you need me to direct your 2005 Spooky House, I'll offer you my services for no fees.

It's too bad I didn't see this message before Halloween. The Hallowed Haunting Grounds, in Studio City, is much better than Spooky House.

Re: SPOOKY HOUSE, RIP OFF !

I'm not doing spooky house this year but have found it entertaining in the past. The worst part is the cramped lines and very long wait times. They always oversell front of the line passes making lines drag out longer than they should and making front of the lines passes take longer than they should. But the houses themselves are pretty well put together and I've seen some pretty good scares. Not the greatest but worth going to once for sure
