before Sandpaper
I would like to know how wood was sanded before sandpaper was invented! I am writing a story and I need to know. I don't have the funds to purchase the tape that tells about this. So if you can help me, just a simplified telling will do! Thank you! |

1. scrub plane 2. jack plane 3. smooth plane 4. cabinet scraper In that order. Assuming you're starting with rough-sawn wood. If you're starting with milled lumber then the scrub plane wouldn't be desirable. |
