I know how you are feeling. I am a college coach as well. The thing that keeps me going is that in these situations I have come to the conclusion that this is where the job starts. It does not start with tennis or wins but it starts with lives. Times like these are what makes our jobs important. If it where easy everyone would do it. The biggest thing keeping this boat on a straight course is that my priorities set the kid first. We, as coaches, set the environment in our program. What we stand for if you will. You know the Bible talks about leading up a child in a way that is right and in the end they will not turn from it. Think about that. In the end... This implies that the child will come back to the way that is right, not that they will be perfect while they are in your care. The IMPORTANT thing is to create and environment that will teach directly and indirectly that right way. In other words it all starts with you. STAY STRONG. You will be in my prayers. Feel free to e-mail or call me at 318-257-4111. |
