My son wants to enroll, What do I do from here?

My son and I recently attended orientation with my son remaining for the rest of the drill. He has decided to join and has had a physical and all the necesary paperwork has been completed. I was told to send the paperwork to Lt.Joy Aimetti. Do I need to send a check to her? Do I need to wait for a response before he can attend or does he come to the next drill and if so what time? Does he need to bring anything besides lunch or lunch money? Please help me. Thank you in advance for your help. Linda Blackler

Re: My son wants to enroll, What do I do from here?

Good morning Mrs. Blackler,

You should send the application package (keep a copy for yourself) to LTJG Aimetti along with a check or money order coverning the enrollment fees.

As for drill attendence: we will be going to the rifle range on this Saturday's drillo (13 Oct 07). However, because your son is not yet enrolled, he will not be able to fire a weapon as enrollment establishes cadets coverage under the national insurance. Unless fully enrolled, cadets are not covered and our liability is too great. He can come to the range and watch or he can show up for drill on Sunday.

When attending drill, cadets must have the following: a three-ring binder (2 or 3" thick), a pocket notebook, a pen and lunch or lunch money ($7.00 per day). Once uniforms are issued, he will need to come in a complete uniform as designated in the plan of the month (POM) and as directed by the CO. Anything additional to this will be distributed via email and the "Drill Schedule" page of the ship's
Web site; or, verbally on Saturday if special requirements are for the Sunday drill.

Please note that I moved your question from the "Welcome" category. If you have a question or statement, please make a new entry so that it does not get lost in some unrelated string. You can see how it is on top as a "new" listing. All other parents and the parent's coordinator can see the new listing and respond appropriately. Unfortunately, the posting under the "Welcome" string is not visible and might get lost. That having been said, thank you for using the parent's forum and I hope you will continue to use this vehicle to get answers to your questions.

If you need more information re-enter this string and post the related question. If you have new questions please start a new string with the topic posted in the "Subject" block.

Respectfully,
Forrest Woodward
Commanding Officer
