Re: homelessness

Doreen: I would call the nearest public housing office. People on disability are usually given priority for housing. I would also call the local women's services center. When I got divorced, I received no alimony for the first nine months and only worked part time due to an injury and was a stay at home mom for half the marriage. I got the house and he got his retirement. Contact the nearest Bar Association to see if there is anyone doing "pro bono" (free) legal work. I went to the Food Pantry and shopped at Thrift Shops. If your husband has enough money to move on, hopefully you can stay where you are (if you can afford it, or just stay as long as you can until you get into public housing) and your husband can leave. Both Lawyers kicked my husband out (he filed).
