Lore Sue: My ex paid the utility, etc., which went with the house after he left before the alimony kicked in (house was paid for). Your husband may be paying half the rent to avoid an abandonment situation so he will look good in court. I would let him take his belongings if he hasn't already and get a Lawyer so you can move forward with your lives ASAP. It's the landlord's home. If your husband is still on the lease, he's still allowed there unless there is a restraining order/domestic violence, etc., if you are not yet divorced. Again, please see a Lawyer and if you cannot afford one, contact the local Bar Association and/or local women's services center to see about everyone's rights. You may have to move to a less expensive place or to apply for housing or get a roommate after the lease expires - a roommate approved by the Landlord.
