I cheated on my husband of almost 4 years last year and he knows and won't leave me. His reason is he doesn't want our daughter (3 yrs) to have a broken family. He's very controlling since then and has hit me a couple of times. I want out, but don't have money, job, or anything in my name. Plus a good amount of debt from college.
meh: My ex shoved me in the shoulder. Please call the domestic violence hotline and/or your local women's services center. My parents fought for the last two years of their long marriage. It is better for the kids to be in a broken home than to hear the fighting, etc., and domestic violence. See if you can get a consultation (sometimes the first one is free) with a Family Lawyer. See about voucher day care (Govt. help in paying) if you do not have anyone to watch your kids and are going to look for/working. Also, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the YMCA offer school aged child care. If you are not working, go to your local unemployment office to see about a job to help pay off your loan. There are anti-poverty/unemployment offices which help train people to work in medical offices and as home health aides either caring for or doing errands for the elderly. I know a woman who was 60 and did that work after having been laid off.
