Re: Wedding Ring

Joy: Everyone I've talked to about the subject of rings says this: If the man bought you the ring it is considered a gift and you may keep it (meaning you can do what you want with it) (this was said by a man) and, if you sell it, you generally won't get as much money as you paid (I didn't). Since I don't know who bought your ring.......nothing legal about my answer. I hope somebody knows more or ask your Lawyer. I've seen several times on a show that the couple got much less when selling their ring(s) and had gotten them appraised (they got ripped off when buying). I hope this helps.

Re: Wedding Ring

Thanks for your reply.
I wasn't sure since it was a wedding ring (rediclously expensive and beautiful) and not an engagement ring if the rules apply differently.
The ring was given to me the day we married.
Appraisal at $12k we both paid about half a little over $5k each.
I'm planning on setting up a consult with an attorney this week. Hopefully I can get it soon.
For now he left our marital home that we are renting and had gone for over a week. But he is trying to kick me out so he can come back!
Now the power is going to be shut off next week unless I pay for it as he is refusing too!
He always paid for the rent and utilities while we were married and living together.
I'm moving but where I want to go I can't get until 11-15
Pretty sure he can't kick me out nor make me start paying rent to him while I'm trying to save for my own moving expenses and now attorney fees.
