I will be married 43 years in January. My marriage has always been very rocky. I have filed for divorce twice but withdrew it before it was final. My husband just filed recently. He had regrets almost immediately. I do not want to stay married to him any longer but fear what is ahead. At 68 I fear I will be alone the rest of my life. I have been told I am really young for my years and I feel the same as I did when I was first married. I have no major health issues. I just need to have the courage to follow through now. Any thoughts.
All I can tell you is that I wish you the very best. I know its hard to change things after you're settled in for that long. I think you really need to do some soul searching and figure out where you'd be happiest. If you can stay in your marriage and find some way to be happy, that's great...if not, maybe leaving would be the right thing to do. If you do decide to go, surround yourself with family and friends to help you through the transition.
