My husband left us for another woman and moved to a different state. I haven't been able to find him for 2 years. I was recently served with divorce and child visitation papers. He is claiming he does not have any income but I know he is working under the table for his Dad. Any suggestions on how I can prove this in court?
Lola: You need a Lawyer ASAP. If you cannot afford one, see if a Family member can help pay or call your local Bar Association to see if there is anyone doing "pro bono" (free) legal work or visit/call your local Women's Services Center. Family Lawyers are best when kids are concerned.
This happened to my sister. Fortunately, she had a very astute female lawyer. Most lawyers are very good at finding hidden funds. If they were hidden that well, even YOU wouldn't know about them! Think of whatever makes you think hidden funds exist, and try to find a paper trail. Meantime, yes, DO get an attorney working on it also. It is a very common problem.
