It sounds as if you are a very kind and caring person. You can not fix him only he can. My advice follow through with the divorce. If he shows signs of doing better you can decide what kind of relationship you can have with him. It sounds like it is over. My ex literally almost killed me. I never in a million years thought he would do something like that. You deserve a life take it.

I agree with the above post. He will most likely get worse before he gets better. I would also HIGHLY recommend therapy for you for the abuse but physical and emotional. Hang in there.
