I have been receiving updates on Mel from his daughter. The latest report says that Mel is now out of ICU and in a step down room. Doctors say the esophagus looks great, no leaks or problems. Mel is alert and making his own decisions on his health care. His daughters also said she heard from a good source that Mel is cracking jokes on his clipboard which he uses to write messages on.
