Diocese of Erie Pastoral Planning

When I was Cursillo President in 2005, and the struggle to fill weekends with candidates was becoming a developing issue for several years, Fr. Tex had introduced the idea that perhaps God was telling us that He wanted Cursillo active in the Erie Diocese for the 42 years it had been at that time and that it was time to shift attention elsewhere. During one of my Presidential addresses I proposed to all: "what if God does NOT want Cursillo to cease in the Erie Diocese," using the slogan that is used in Alcoholics Anonymous: "(when out at sea during a raging storm), Pray, but row toward shore," meaning that we all needed to continue to stay busy with the task of tending to the needs of Cursillo and not just resign ourselves to the idea that it was time to fold. Given that the Erie Diocese Cursillo Movement has continued and is now in it's 52nd year, the statistics in the attached Pastoral Planning Report just baffle me. How can we be falling this short of having the impact that we are supposed to be having? My original intention was just to simply post "The Erie Diocese needs Cursillo to thrive now more than ever" along with the link, but the Erie Diocese has had Cursillo for 51 years and yet we are still in this predicament. Fr. Bill, during a closing prayer service at a Cursillo picnic, encouraged all present to think about the moment when their weekend Spiritual Director placed the cross around their neck and reminded them that "Christ is Counting on You." After reading the attached report more thoroughly, I am going to meditate on this moment again. De Colores.
