My parents bought a Bowers built house in Shenley Avenue for £695 in 1934. It was semi detached and when we moved in you could see the traffic in Cornwall road for there were no houses in between at that time. Sadly it was badly damaged by a parachute mine during the war.

Ruislip Manor had a small rail bridge over Victoria Road in '34. The road was so narrow that there was a disused gate by it.
