A famous musical comedy star Jessie Matthews, London West End stage, singing,dancing, etc. Ended up retiring to Ruislip when she fell on hard times. She became famous as Mrs. Dale, in the radio show "Mrs. Dale's diary." She lived in a bungalow on Brook Drive off Evelyn Way. She became a familiar face shopping in Ruislip in the 50's.
