Interesting to hear of Jessie Matthews. I know that in the 1950's there was a retirement home for actors in Ruislip. The only reason being I know this, was that the famous Wilfred Pickles radio show arrived there. It would be interesting if there was such a thing as a record of who these long forgotten people were.
Wilfred Pickles in his jovial Yorkshire way, asked a lady resident this question. "If you had one wish only, what would it be?" She said firmly and clearly "God keep my memory green".
Something to remember.
