Re: who are the most famous?

After a couple of generations, the names of actors and band leaders have generally faded. The one man who was Rislip born and did a lot of good for the place was a builder called Wallis. He made money like they all did out of the building boom then turned to trying to do some good for the place, first by service on the council. He was instrumental in getting the woods and Manor Farm preserved for common use. He rated a bench at Manor Farm but when I was las there, it had gone. When councillors began affliliating with political parties he quit and started Ruislip Rotary. He may not be famous bu he deserves to be remembered.

Re: who are the most famous?

Mick Tucker, drummer with Sweet definitely lived in Ruislip. Firstly in Torcross Road, South Ruislip and then in Beverley Road, Ruislip Manor. I know this to be a fact, as he was my uncle! [:)s]

Re: who are the most famous?

Nice one - what is your surname, Angela? Are you a fan of the band? [8)]

Re: who are the most famous?

How about Philip whose website keeps us in touch with local matters. His name is known worldwide (or at least where many ex-Ruislippians live) - although I don't know where he was born!
