Re: Typhoons RAF Northolt -v- Shiftwork

Hello W K,

I expect you're tucked up nicely in your bed right now? I'm busy doing my dead end job and have a 10 minute break. It's probably the only time I'll get to myself all night, it's always non-stop here. But I thought I'd stop by and say hi to you all the same. You're right that we feel ****ed if we do and ****ed if we don't. Selfish of me to think otherwise.

But the whole thing was meant very light heartedly - hence the suggestion that I was sticking my 'tongue out' & the end comment 'Grumpy-and-on-nights'. But it seems to have pressed a button inside you that probably shouldn't be touched. So may I please offer my unreserved apologies to you for any stress I may have caused to you or your personal opinions. Maybe you're not sleeping too well at night and that's causing your short fuse? I am able to offer you some techniques for remaining calm and refer you onward to some practitioners who are experts in that particular field. Anyway I digress...

I'm led to believe that the RAF Base hasn't had fighter aircraft based there since WW2? Everything going in and out of there since I can remember (I've only lived here since I was a child, so a mere 20 years or so), usually sticks to a pretty standard flight path. These temporarily posted aircraft are not bound by these flight paths and thus I will take time to acclimatise to them flying directly over my bedroom. Please allow me the time to feel less and less annoyed and increasingly more and more safe. Whilst I struggle to hide beneath the bedclothes in the next few weeks. Sadly I must admit that I genuinely don't feel all that threatened right now. So perhaps our security forces are doing an excellent job after all...

Got to go now. My pager has just gone off and I need to get back to work again. These ambulances keep just piling in....

Goodnight and wishing you a good nights sleep.

John
