Has nyone used the Shakespeare 5400-XT Little Giant VHF The 5400-XT Little Giant is a heavy-duty, compact 4-ft. VHF antenna with brass and copper elements. Stainless steel ferrule with standard 1"-14 threads. Antenna includes 20-ft. RG-8X cable and PL-259 connector. 50w max. output.
Looks like a new unit, I wil lbe needing a new one as I will let my radio and antenna go with my boat. IU like the fact rgat it is only 4' tall and the the fact that it is about 100.00, I'm assuming it must be as good as mym 8' antenna, probably not though.
I have the 4' DIGITAL ANTENNA that has 4.5dB Gain with a Standard Horizon Radio on my boat and when your on Squam I can talk to you when I'm on Winni. The Shakespeare should perform the same. I think thats all you need. I fish out to Jeffery's and have no problem receiving and transmitting the 20-25 mile range.
John, after looking at the specs don't get the Shakespeare it's only 3dB Gain take a look at this antenna it's the one I have and would buy another one if I needed it. Model #528-VW.

John,
I have the same antenna Charlie's Catch has and I can also hear you guys over on Squam. Mine is mounted on my T-top so it's a little higher up. I've been very pleased with it.
