Southern end is wide open. Trolled Alton Bay, Rattlesnake, Diamond, the triangle, etc... No ice except a few chunks. Lots of debris in the lake (like turnover conditions), had to check lines often. I was marking lots of lakers over bait balls in 40-60ft. All smelt so far with little interest in hardware or flies. Its on!! Good luck guys and looking forward to other reports. P.S.- to any fisherman who fish off the Alton bridge; when you hear an air horn blasting multiple times before and under the bridge please reel in; theres a boat coming out.
