Bear Attack!

CENTER HARBOR, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire fire chief says a woman was hurt when she was attacked by a bear near her Center Harbor home.

Center Harbor Fire Chief John Schlemmer says the woman was outside with her dog at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when the attack occurred.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken by ambulance to the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, but Schlemmer says her injuries were not serious.

The circumstances of the attack are unclear.

Schlemmer told the Laconia Citizen the bear escaped into the woods.

Re: Bear Attack!

Be interesting to find out what really happened. Wonder if it was a sow with a cub or if the bear was just trying to get away from her dog.

Re: Bear Attack!

Had a bear in the yard last week. Didn't know it was a sow with a cub until it moved off into the woods and the cub went running and wining. The sow stood her ground and bounced a few time trying to scare me off. Had I known she had a cub I would not have gotten so close for the picture.
