Forry I did not know they changed the size back to 15" and I did not look it up. I know one boat that left with seven fish last weekend and seen four more this weekend all around 16-17 inches. Yesterday I fished till 11am. Fish N Finn Jr, most the time I fished the same triangle by Church island I've fished for over 28 years. John you were the fourth boat in the area. When you arived I was in front of you with doubles. I set back up and had doubles again. I saw the small red Lund catch three, the beige Lund catch a couple, the black Lund caught several and I did see you catch more than one. If I saw that many caught as busy I was I am sure there was plenty more, the fishing was good. Be happy for people. I have always fished Squam slower and deeper than Winni. Yesterday gold and orange worked very well. Myself and other boats are hopefully going to get together on Squam this weekend. Good luck fishing, Roland
Roland, we were pretty busy too, catching multiple Bass (lol) one 2yr old Salmon and one Bow, in the rain, so we didnt see you or others doing doubles. We did see few caught, but not many returned to the lake I might add. Might have seen you do part of a double once mid morning, maybe saw the last one I guess as we only saw you (or someone) take a rod out of the holder and net a fish, but I didn't know it was you, I don't know your boat that well, I know it's white (I think) but it must have been you, why didn't you say hello, you know the Squam channel and we were all so close you could have yelled over, ha-ha ?
Do you believe some fisherman would keep barely legal Salmon, but they are legal I guess. So the word is out, if you want to catch perhaps mutiple "barely legal" 2 year olds, Squam is the lake to go. What a joke, go to Winni and catch dozens of 2yr olds with plenty of 3 and 4 year olds thrown in if your lucky ..
I do welcome and expect new fisherman to Squam and happy for them if they can catch a big boy as some have, but 2 yr old keepers, I don't think so. On my boat it's not even a question if they want to keep it, if it aint bleeding back it goes so maybe it can be next years trophy.
We are all very excited to see the return of 2 yr old Salmon to Squam, I only hope folks leave a few in so they can maybe grow and become someone's trophy or wall hanger in a year or so..
See you next weekend, but I wont be fishing, I'll be the guy directing traffic, ha-ha. Seriously I wont even be on the lake, no boat and it's my birthday, I plan to be miles away, but good luck to all that fish in NH..
