I purchased two mag 10 downriggers that are about 5 yrs old and have a few questions about them. The first is about the mounting base. I bought two new bases that are a solid block of plastic about 4 x 4 inches. There seems to be some slop when the rigged is mounted. If I hit a wave it will rock back and forth even if the weight is in the water. Is this normal? The other question is about the ion control. The motor seems to be making a noise very similar to the wine u get from the cable. This occurs only when the cable is in the water while I am trolling not when the motor is operating. I wonder if it is the part that creates the ion charge. Any thoughts?
