Re: Choosing the best trolling outboard

Ask for an opinion on one motor brand over another and you might as well have asked "ford vs chevy". That being said I will offer my .02 worth. Not a big fan of mercury's (nor are my circle of friends, we call them "Black Death") but no matter which brand you go with it has to be a four stroke.. And if it says "25HP" on the plate than get a 25HP. Too many people make the mistake of underpowering only to regret it later. You're actually in a really good spot buying a boat without a motor. People usually get hooked into buying "Package Boats" at the dealers which are almost always under powered to make the price attractive. Do yourself a favor and get the 25hp. Oh and if it happens to be a Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha well than that's just icing on the cake. Congrats on the boat.. Lunds are incredible

my friends hate mercs also. they get a good look at one when im towing them home. hahahaha. 15000 plus hours on my 91, just breaking it in. 15 years moored in salt, the rest in fresh at the dock., chevy verse ford... ill watch that debate and keep with my 89 dodge dakota convertible;)
