Welcome to most addicting fishing known to mankind! The key to catching quality Salmon and Lakers on Winni is pay ATTENTION to the small details. Speed, Presentation, Depth are all keys to making your time on the water enjoyable. Live Baits are commonly used during the spring months by using Fly Rods with floating line with long leaders. Keep your speed down to Less than 1mph. As the Lake starts to flip Downriggers or Lead Core is great way to achive success. I will continue to use bait as long as its available. Once the bait runs out we use Tandem streamers and DB Smelts on the Riggers down about 25-35 feet. Our speed is between 1.5 and 2.2 MPH. I also found that the lake has lots of current, so if you produce fish in one direction and not going the other way you found a current. Like I said Before Pay attention to the Details. I Keep a Log book of my daily trips.
