The floro carbon leader is a biggie!! Salmon are a site fish.. they spook very easy... Live bait as slow as you can go is your best bet in the spring time or a streamer right on top at sunrise!
Welcome to the best sport fishing in the state by far! Remember to stay close to shore while water temps are in the lower 50's as they rise and the lake flips the fish will move deeper..
My hook up rate went up about 60% just by using florocarbon leader.. a lot of guys will use 6lb test florocarbon but ive even gone as far as 4lb test floro.. pretty much the lighter pound test you go on the floro the better the bite will be.. But ive lost some nice fish by using the lighter stuff..
also color matters! 5am they could be hitting orange and copper by 515am it could be red head topgun.. just always remember that as the sun rises and sets the luers look diffreant and diffreant patters trigger bites depending on how the sun hits the water.
Last but not least... change speeds.. try 2mpr then go slower then speed up.. even troll in a zig zag pattern... good luck out there tight lines!! I'll see you guys sunday!!!!
