Fished Champlain with some RFPs; Salty, The Judge and Kurt on the Peggy C and White Cap, Fishrod on the Gray Ghost out of Town Farm Bay for 2 ½ days.
The salmon fishing was slow in the general area, Lake Trout fishing filled in. Heard on VHF that there was some salmon action in the Mile Point area, so the next day we trolled down to that area viewing a lot of bait from the green can down to Mile. Salmon action still slow.
Overall, many 4 to 6 lbs lakers and the largest 8.25 lb was landed by White Cap, for a total fish catch of about 40. Ran riggers at 20, 25 and at time 50 with blades, lead core at 3 to 4 colors. Water temperature were generally around 43 degrees with Whalom bay at 40. We decided to to move to warmer waters for the Wed fishing. Took a 20 mile boat ride to the south end of the lake, 30 min. ride, water temp 50 and increased to 52 by noon. Found salmon and with some lakers mixed in.
The hot lures on the Gray Ghost were: The lund and 2 slice.
