Poleski...I don't think the new organizers are motivated by greed (after all this latest prize wasn't required...they offered it out without anyone pushing them to pay out more). I think they are motivated to make this event as good as Rick Davis did...even better.
I just think they are new to the event and a bit green when it comes to how the salmon fishery is managed. Like I have said, my interactions with the new organizers have been VERY positive and they were very responsive to recommendations...I think they are motivated to keep this event special and simply need constructive guidance. It is us to us to control ourselves and not bring in a 20 inch 1.5 pound fish just to have a chance at $100.
I could be naive on all this but I have actually communicated with these people. Please try this yourself before labeling them as opportunists at our wallets. This is a special event and once it's gone its gone for good. I also think that when I give my recommendation on changing the format of the $100 daily prize...that they should also raise the min size to 21 to reduce the 20 inch fish kill. They don't need 20 inch fish to fill the boards.
