Really though, its worth every penny and not as expensive as you're probably thinking. You can start on this end of the lake to save yourself a few hours drive time (and gas). But going out where Roland was will take you about 10 hours towing in good conditions.

I don't know what your truck gets for gas mileage, but mine towing the 21'er to Niagara would get 14mpg. I would go through about 100 gallons in the truck, round trip and driving around while there. Plus whatever was needed for several days of trolling in the boat.

Always call ahead for reserving a room. Some of the ports are very busy when others are not.

You have a lot of gear that will also work for Lake O already. You could get enough flies, spin doctors, spoons, leader, swivels, etc to match up to kings for a week for a couple hundred bucks. Less if you're frugal - but I know you like to buy fishing stuff as much as me - so I'd say you'll go through $200 on lures/tackle pretty quick. LOL.
