To pass time while trolling I'll give updates throughout the derby.
Thursday
Launched at 1030 and got the boat to the house. Out on the water by 11.
Fishing Center Harbor right now...
1st fish....12:13....17" Salmon
2nd fish....12:20...18" Salmon

2:15 18" Salmon no picture.
Got an umbrella rig attractor from AJ's....bad crimp on the steel leader, as soon as it hit the water it came off...all I have left is a barrel swiver and snp swivei. Called AJ's and he will replace it. Great customer service.
3:15 Big Jim just had a break off at the boat...brand new segaur 6lb and drag was very loose, line still broke dammit. Looked to be a cookie cutter 18" Salmon
3:38 1st laker of the trip.
3:56 2nd Laker..they seem to like orange today
5:05pm 3rd laker 17"......we are picking away at them. Orange is a good color for lakers today.
5:25 4th laker...had to keep this one as lots of blood from the treble being caught in its gills.
6:05 16" Salmon
Over all a very good day...will need much bigger ones tomorrow. Got about 20 more mins and we are done for the day.
6:30 doubled up, 16" salmon and a 12" rainbow. Great day overall!!!

6:45 been busy for the past hour, 3 more salmon, 14-18", 1 smallie, and 1 monster laker!! Brady is now taking a break lol I'm so effing psyched for him, fought for about 10 minutes on this guy!!!!
That guy should get him on the board!!!!

Just weighed in, 24.5", 5.46lbs in 1st place!!! That's my boy!!!
2:40 Brady is like a laker magnet...nice 21" just caught 5 colors down.
3:30.......2 more lakers.....nothing of any good size. We are finished up for the day...over all we got about 20 salmon, 7 lakers and 3 smallies. Can't complain about that!!

Brady won the daily lake trout division today. We are very happy and proud of him!!
There is a problem though....they have 2 seperate sets of the rules. 1 set says "juniors can only win the junior salmon category and daily lake trout prizes" the other says "juniors can win the junior salmon AND major lake trout prizes" guess which set of rules they are currently going by?
The coordinator Dianne says she will get the derby commitee together to make a ruling. Imagine the stink I will make and the press nightmare if they rules against a 7 year old kid not winning $5000 simply because he isn't over 16??? So right now someone could win lake trout with a smaller laker....stay tuned for updates on this one!!!!

6:55 just doubled up on 2 more 17" salmon....starting to think that's all that's in here.
Funny story, Big Jim left his cooler out on the deck with his special bran muffins and loaf of bread etc...opened the door at 3:50am and a racoon is knawing away on his bread and 6 muffins are all gone lol
10:21 Not much to report guys...6 salmon 1 laker so far. We will keep working it!!
Rumor has it that a 7.5lb laker was turned in this morning....no real confirmation yet.

3:15 Sooooooo slow!!!!! Just got an update from the derby commitee, Brady is now in 3rd place but they are going to allow him to be in the trout pool category. If he holds in for Top 5 he will get another prize tomorrow. Leading laker now is 9.5lbs
5:27 what a slow afternoon. Boat traffic is unreal with this nice weather. I would much rather have it cool and rainy and cloudy than this weather for the derby. With all the pleasure crafts out here it looks like Memorial Day weekend came early.
Today has been tough fishing, we are still out here though working hard. On the water at 4am, haven't stopped at all today not even to take a lunch break. Gonna fish until at least 7. Weigh stations close then.

Finally figured out why we had such a slow day today......someone decided to bring bananas on board the boat. Apparently he didn't know they were bad luck....once I saw the peel from the 1st one after he ate it he fessed up he had another, I did my best Tom Brady impersonation and exorcised the demon!!!!! ARGGGHHHH!!!!!!
4:00am On The Water....fishing until 11 or so, derby ends at 12. Gotta be at awards at 1:15 which means getting the house packed up and boat off the water and be in Laconia by 1:15....time will be tight. Hoping for another board fish!!!
5:15 1st fish, a smallie...Big Jim and Dale are up to 4 salmon, 3 lakers, and a yellow so far on their boat....we are marking tons, they have freaking lockjaw! FML haha
8:29 typical slow Sunday morning....nice laker just a few mins ago. No Salmon so far today
10:30 all done everyone, no big ones today. As of 10am, Brady still in 3rd place. Have to pack up and get boat on the trailer etc by 12:15 then get to laconia for awards at 1:15, I hope he holds on to 3rd...gets a new Lowrance Mark 4 DSI Nav Fishfinder Combo unit.
2:30 Awards just ended....1st place Salmon 5.5lbs, 1st place Laker 9.4lbs...Brady held on for 3rd place over all for Lake Trout!!
