I agree "lead by example" Well I have done that in my opinion to extreme measures;
**I have stopped guiding full time and now only guide on weekends here and there.
**This season I have done 0 charters as I have been very busy with my full time job.
**All guides have given up two lines per boat which we all agreed to when presented with the rule change idea at a guide’s association meeting.
**Guides also preach strong catch and release methods (the Salmon Angler’s Pledge) and harvesting the correct fish as well as the use of all the proper fish handling techniques. Glenn and I worked with F&G to come up with ideas on the “Pledge”!
**In addition many guides have pioneered these concepts with the suggestion from our dedicated Fish and Game biologists.
** I as well as many other guides try and use any publication or seminars we do to add awareness to these concepts.
I feel strongly that if we all continue in our efforts that the fishery is sure to improve and be better than ever. In the end not an astronomical number of fish were checked in even with the $100 prize being presented. I think this is a result of the efforts of many.
