i run smelt til i cant buy it alive, then switch to lures, then mid summer smaller flies, late summer back to tandem flies. this year is different, salmon population on my lake is way off and the early season just spread them out all over the place. i went from smelt to an attempt with metal, then changed to tandems and a much higher speed to cover more water. i change often but its hard to take a favorite off the line
