launched out of glandale at 515 am saturday morning and hit the welch/diamond/rattlesnake area. started off a little slow but picked up as the morning went along. mostly rainbows, 8 or 9 i think, all around 15". a couple dink salmon but had a few nice ones too around 19" or so. also caught 2 small lakers and a white perch. hot lure of the day was an aqua/glow chappys spoon 8 feet behind the flashers at 35 ft. down. had a few hits on an orange/white black dot guide special at 42 ft on the rigger as well. caught a handful of fish on the lead cores/boards too, various spoons at 5-6 colors and a white perch fly at 6 or 7 colors. ended the day with 13 or 14 fish boated. had a couple doubles which was nice.
lost a GIANT fish too. don't know what it was, but it fought/felt like a salmon. it hit the aqua/glow spoon behind the flashers. that fish was ripping drag before i could get the rod out of the downrigger rod holder. that drag was cranked almost fully tight too. it must have been a helluva fish to pull line like that. when i got the rod out, i quickly loosened the drag so it could run and run it did. i had it on for about 30 seconds and then it pulled off. and no sooner did i lose it, the lead core rod next to it went off. i caught this one, turned out to be a decent 19" salmon. great trip though, nice weather too. it was nice to have a calm, cloudy day. my favorite. i wanted to go out last night after the rain but couldn't find anyone to go. oh well, have to wait until next weekend.
pretty sure i saw misty mornin out there, you and i were side by side a few times. i was in the black starcraft. lots of other boats out there too but none that i knew.
