Marking a ton of action in the top 20'. Moderate activity 20-30'. NOTHING deeper than 35'. Downriggers everywhere between 5'-45' with streamers and spoons various colors, but not a bite in two days out. Pulled a few small Bass off the top with streamers (no riggers). Speed 1.9-2.3.
Where are the cold water fish?
Bite was slow on Wed.If you are using leadcore be down 6 to 7 colors.I drag hardware around(Topguns)
Try combos of orange/gold, yellow/flor, purple/orange.I caught fish on different colors.Riggers at 30'to
45'.I go down deeper at times.Like I said the bite was slow for me.
thanks for the advice. No lead, just downriggers. Out again at 5 this morning, fished for 3+ hours. Not even a hit. Streamers, spoons, all color's all depths. Nothing. Marked fish from surface to 25'. Fishe'd 90% of time in that depth. Also briefly tried 35-45'. They just aren't liking what I'm offering.
What speed are you trolling at? Are you changing your speed?
Fished Saturday morning 515-7 with no luck. Was at it again Sunday at 5am. Fished until 9. Hit a bunch of fish at 30'. 3 rainbows and two salmon. Best fish was 3 lb rainbow. All the fish came from purple orange top guns. Last weekend I caught all the fish over deep water. This past weekend I caught all the fish right off structure. Has anyone been catching fish on flies. I tried single hook firesmelt, pumpkin head, and white perch maribou with no luck on these. Just got to keep fishing!
I have not had much luck lately either so take this with that in mind, but I’m years past when the YOY smelt started to show up on the boat deck it meant that the joes smelt single flies in small sizes would work well. I suspect they look a lot like a YoY smelt.
