Just a quick question. New at the salmon fishing and I was curious on how deep to fish and what speed this time of year? Any bit of help will be appreciated.
Right now they can be from the surface down. Most of our fish have come from 8' to 18'. Been trolling 1.8 to 2.2 mph. Probably 60% of fish have come while turning.
Thanks for the info Salty. I've been right at those depths and speeds but out of three days of fishing I only had 2 hits. I have to be doing something wrong???
Seems most of the time it's the outside, but got doubles on a turn today. I may be wrong, but my theory is it's the change of speed that triggers the strike.
getting the lures working right by getting the right speed then going to the depth that you see fish on the finder is the best starting place. Then varing your speed a little up and down may get the action. Controllking throttle control will make doing this easy and convenient.
