fished saunders bay from 5:30 am to 9:30 am we caught 4 salmon and 1 rainbow before 6:15 am then the fishing just died on us but we had a great day. salmon sizes were 20" 16" 15" 15" the rainbow was 18" and fat . lures used were sutton# 61, matty gun top gun, pumpkin head fly and joes smelt fly, depths were 5 feet to 15 feet . hope to be on the water next weekend . "reel it in"
Also fished Sunday morning from 5:30 to 8:30 on the northern end of the lake. Caught three salmon and two lakers. Largest salmon was 24" and very fat. Would like to hook up with that one again during the derby. It was our second trip out for the season and was very enjoyable. Salmon were caught at 15' and the lakers were found much deeper. Should be back out next weekend.
We have our best success from 5:30 to 8:30 in the morning. Favorite lures are orange and black top guns or orange with black dot DB Smelt lures. The salmon are closer to the top earlier in the morning so try 10 to 15 ft. at 2.0 to 2.2 mph. We have had better luck at this time of year with leadcore. Best of luck to you.
